TEHRAN UIC RAME: The 21th Regional Assembly for Middle East Meeting (RAME) was held on May 7, 2018 in Ankara, Turkey with the presence of UIC Chairman, UIC Director General, UIC Asia Pacific Regional Assembly (APRA) Chairman, RAME chairman and Vice-Chairmen, UIC coordinator for Middle East, Railways Presidents of the member states, and managing directors of railway companies, particularly representatives of TCDD Taşımacılık A.Ş. for the first time. Number of matters such as approval of the minutes of 20th RAME in Paris, country reports of the M.E. railways’ Presidents, report on the activities of UIC RAME Regional Office in Tehran, new activities for 2018, and financial issues were discussed in the meeting.
A document titled “Main International rail corridors passing through Middle East, Connecting Asia to Europe” (draft version), and DVDs of 20th RAME meeting in Paris on 6 December 2017 were distributed during the meeting.
Mention shall be made that the map of UIC Middle-East railways was fully updated and published due to the latest modifications and inclusion of high speed lines in the member countries, changes, and launching new projects in the member countries. In this regard, several RAME members, in particular Turkey, Iraq, Jordan, supported RAME Office of Tehran in preparing the map by sending their railway information.
It was decided during the meeting to hold the next RAME meeting in Iran.
